CAR PARK

The Car Park is for use only by Members of the Club and some members of staff. Parking by guests and visitors is not permitted unless a Flag Officer or the Secretary has given prior permission.

The barrier control is by use of a card available strictly to Members and some members of staff only. These are not transferable and can be obtained from the Office upon payment of the annual barrier card charge applicable at the time. Barrier cards remain the property of the Club and must be returned when a Member resigns or a member of staff leaves the Club or if payment, for the current year, is not made.

Cars are parked entirely at the owners’ risk.

All cars, which Members wish to park from time to time, must display a current “Sticker” which is available from the Office. These must be renewed each year. Members are asked to give details of their car to the office staff.

The car park is intended for the use of Members using the Club’s facilities or engaging in sailing and other boating and related activities. The car park is not intended to facilitate Members carrying on business and, accordingly, Members are not expected to park their cars when the sole or main purpose of doing so is connected with their day to day business activities, although special permits may be issued for this purpose.

Special permits for parking may be obtained from the Office. These, however, will be strictly limited in number and will not guarantee the availability of space. Members are requested not to apply for special permits unless they intend to use the car park in circumstances that require the issue of a permit. Not more that one special permit will be issued to members of the same family. Special permits will be available for such periods and at such cost as the General Committee may from time to time decide. These permits are issued and are renewable quarterly and should be displayed whilst the vehicle is in the car park. These permits are transferable between vehicles but no more than one vehicle per permit should be in the car park at any one time.

During the period between May to October the boatsheds may be let out as garages although their use as boat sheds will have priority. Any permit holder wishing to have use of one of the garages should contact the Office. Priority will be given to garage users during the previous year.

During the period that the boatsheds are being used as garages vehicle access to the sheds must not be obstructed. No maintenance work or valeting may be carried out on any vehicle whilst in the boatsheds or in the car park.

Members wishing to park their cars for permitted purposes for more than 48 consecutive hours will require a special permit and they are requested to notify the Office in advance specifying the reasons for wishing to do so and their anticipated period of parking. Keys should be left with the Office in case it becomes necessary to move the vehicle.

Members may leave their cars overnight but are asked to remove them by 10:00 the following day.

The General Committee has delegated the responsibility of administering and enforcing these Bye-laws to the Secretary who has the discretion to issue or refuse the supply of car park stickers or permits.

DINGHY PARK

The dinghy park is for the storage of masted sailing dinghies of up to 16ft. in length which are the property of RSYC Members. Tenders may be kept on the racks provided.

An annual charge will be made for the use of the dinghy park. Charges will be levied at the discretion of the General Committee.

Please notify the Boatman or Secretary prior to storage. Motor boats and ribs may not be stored in the dinghy park or car park; separate locations may be found for them subject to space being available.

Spaces will be allocated in accordance with a first come, first served principle, but preference will be given to boats that will race from the Club. A space will be allocated and the boat should be kept neatly in the allocated space.

Every boat and trailer must display a dinghy park sticker. These will be issued by the Office when the storage fee has been paid.

Dinghies must be kept on the appropriate launching trolley and these must be returned to the appropriate space when the dinghy has been launched, and not left obstructing the slipway.

The General Committee reserve the right to require the removal of any dinghy kept on the dinghy park if it is not being used regularly or not displaying a current sticker, in order that those wishing to make full use of the slipway and dinghy park may be accommodated.

To allow maintenance of the dinghy park to be carried out it is only available for use from 1st March to 1st October each year. Dinghies and associated trailers are to be removed outside of this period. The Club reserves the right to remove all dinghies and trailers that are left in the dinghy park during the winter without permission, and to arrange for them to be stored off-site at the owner’s expense.

In the case of a dinghy or trailer abandoned on Club premises, the following procedure will be adopted:

The Secretary shall attempt to trace the owner by all reasonable means.
The object in question will be moved if appropriate to any other part of the premises without liability for any loss or damage howsoever caused.
If the secretary fails, having taken all reasonable steps, to trace the owner, the object in question will be scrapped or sold.

The Club expects any dinghy left on its premises to be adequately insured and accepts no responsibility for any damage however caused.

The Club and employees of the Club accept no responsibility for the safety of persons sailing from the Club premises and it is for those using the slipway to ensure that they take every precaution for their own safety and that they are capable of coping with the prevailing weather and sea conditions.
